Stock growing in greenhouse at Olivieri Flowers

Experience stock season with sweet-smelling flowers and stories from our farm.

The start of autumn marks the beginning of stock season on our farm, but it's in full swing by the 1st of June. This period is crucial for us as we prepare our fields and greenhouses for these fragrant flowers.

Mother's Day Preparation

Stock season aligns perfectly with the Mother's Day rush. Our first crops were planted and picked just in time to create beautiful arrangements for this special day. The vibrant and fragrant stock flowers featured in many of the bouquets and arrangements delivered to mums all over the Central Coast as part of their Mother's Day celebrations.

Continued Growing

With Mother's Day behind us, we are now focused on planting the next lot of crops. We have a gorgeous mix of colours planned, including pink, white, lemon, peach, mauve, and a vibrant purple, which is our favourite. Each batch is carefully planted by hand, ensuring the best growing conditions for the seedlings.

Sweet & Spicy

Stock flowers are well known for their ruffled petals and fragrance, often described as a mix of cloves, cinnamon, and vanilla. This sweet and spicy scent makes them a very popular option for our customers who love fragrant flowers.

Here are a couple of our beautiful bouquets we have ready right now that celebrate our Stock - do you know anyone sweet enough (or spicy enough!) for these?

Planting and Growing seedlings

The process of growing stock flowers is meticulous. The seedlings are hand-planted and it takes about three months for them to mature and flower. During this period, they require careful attention and optimal growing conditions to reach their full potential. Each seedling has a plug of soil at its base, which houses the small root system. The seedlings must be planted level with the top of the soil, and the soil must be pushed in towards the plug to prevent the roots from drying out once they are in the ground. They are watered immediately after planting, and for the first few weeks, they receive small bursts of water twice a day. Then for the next 2-3 weeks they are overhead watered, and after that, they are watered by drip irrigation.
